Ulysses S. Owens Jr.
„In addition to my love for music, within the last few years emerging as an up and coming producer; listening to to new projects, music for a tour or checking Mixes and Masters prepping for releases, I require a serious set of “Cans”! Ultrasone headphones for me are the perfect match…”
„… These headphones are balanced representing all sonic aspects of the music with equal proportions of Mids/Hi`s/Low`s, so I can make the best decisions about the music chosen for audience to embrace. I use the PRO 900 model for the studio and they are perfect and so clear and freat for finding a great sound in the studio while tracking. Outside the studio, for checking mixes, and studying music for different shows, I love Edition 8 S-Logic (Ruthenium).“
Ulysses graduated with a Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Studies from The Juilliard School in 2006. He has toured extensively in 7 of the 8 continents with many world- class musicians such as Kurt Elling, Count Basie Orchestra, Terence Blanchard, Dianne Reeves, and many others. He is currently working with Grammy Winning artists Christian McBride, Nicholas Payton, Ted Nash, and Wynton Marsalis. He was fortunate to receive a 2010 Grammy Award for his performance on Kurt Elling’s “Dedicated To You”, and 2012 Grammy Award for the Christian McBride Big Band CD “The Good Feeling”.
He has been featured recently in Modern Drummer Magazine as “Up & Coming Drummer of 2011”, and Jet Magazine, on Wynton Marsalis’ list of the next generation of jazz greats to watch. He is now emerging as an up & coming producer, with three albums slated for 2011 release. As Artistic Director for his family’s 501 (c) 3 organization don’t Miss A Beat, Inc he creates programs for inner –city students in Jacksonville Florida about the Arts, as a tool to enrich and educate their lives.
